Camp Sunshine is a day program on Ward’s Island that provides social, recreational, and health promotion activities for seniors and people with disabilities. The program has run annually on the Island from May to September for over 50 years! As we ramp up for another fun and adventure filled summer, we are looking for motivated, creative and flexible youth to fill four summer positions for our 2024 Camp Sunshine season.
Volunteers will be working alongside our CIA staff to help inform older adults of the different community services, benefits, and housing options that are available to them.
Volunteers will be working within our Health Promotions department to deliver information about the different outreach program available to older adults.
You’ll be giving back to your community AND having fun. Volunteers help us achieve our mission by making Ottawa a more welcoming place for people with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and Dual Diagnosis.

As a natural supports provider, your role will be to develop a supportive relationship with a person who has an intellectual disability while doing an activity you both enjoy. We are looking for someone who: is friendly and personable; is mature and responsible; respects commitments; is open and willing to learn about intellectual disabilities.
